"Think like a man of action. Act like a man of thought." I heard a man once say.
I think, given the power, I'd be one of those people that takes criminal justice too far. It's like I've got a tube in my arm. A slow, continuous drip IV of the red pill. The older I get, the more I see the world is not the beautiful place I thought it was as a child. People are only afraid of you if you are able to see past what they want you to see, through to the glimpses of nothing but evil desires that are dying to get out.
"This city is afraid of me. I've seen it's true face."
But I don't think anyone would touch me, even if I did. People aren't that stupid. They know their actions will only confirm their blackened motivation. They quietly wait for the next pre meditated move. Whether it be theirs. Or mine. Doubt would cloud everything in me. Disappointment is an inevidable product of any means I would choose. So, where do we go from here? Do I get to exterminate every scent of evil? Or do I make examples of a few unlucky chosen? Will that be enough? Is there actually any hope for the world? If there is, it's the only thing that has a shot at making this place less ugly.
"This city is dying of rabies. Is the best I can do to wipe random flecks of foam from its lips?"
So justice is God's. Then how far can we go to protect our children and ensure necessary examples are made? Is there any way to completely diminish evil, or even lessen it's thorny, vinelike grasp as it spreads over everything, living and dead. Capital punishment verses a slap on the wrist. Life in prison verses house arrest. Corporal punishment verses community service. Does evil really have classification? The lesser of two evils generally will recieve the lesser of two punishments. But what if that's the only motivation for a person to then act on it. Then again, if both offences had the same harsher outcome, would one try to get away with the greater evil anyway? Probably. History played out countless occasions of human beings knowing full well the consequences of actions, but going forward regardless, getting caught and THEN acting surprised and calling for appeal when their fate has been delt. What's wrong with society? What's wrong with the world?
"Somebody has to do it, don't you see? Somebody has to save the world..."
